RESEARCH: Ancillary Products

To find out more on ancillary products so we could understand their purpose we asked:

Why are CD covers still used?
The main point behind a CD cover is to sell, sell, sell the artist. When someone picks up the album in a shop or browses it on the internet they need to automatically know who the artist is and what they are all about. Seeing as nowadays we download music, we need some sort of visual stimulus with we can relate to when we to looking for it on  or  for example.

How helpful are promotional ancillary products for:

1. The artist:
Various forms of ancillary products not only promote the artist and their brand but it also provides other platforms where their music can be recognised.

2. The music industry
These products keep the music industry alive and visual because if there were no CD covers or adverts people would not find out about their favourite artist and many would simply blend into the background.

3. The music video
Ancillary products act mainly as a visual link for the music video, so when they see a billboard advert for Christina Aguilera's latest album they know what the theme is for the latest video.
